It occurs to me that one of the scriptural symbols for the wholeness model is washing. When something gets dirty, it isn’t ruined. It’s not worthless. It isn’t broken. It’s just dirty. You clean it off and put it back in its proper place. That seems like a great analogy to what the Atonement does for us.

I agree. Washing works well for me. I think for others washing doesn’t work because it implies we “dirty” ourselves thru our learning by experience in this realm. But the idea that we are fundamentally good, complete but somehow don’t know that or recognize it or have masked or been masked–however we want to think of it, the atonement brings this new understanding or perception of what is. It’s really nice to wake up to that!
